Hi Ms. Mongno and everybody in her class! My name is Mr. Hamada and I’m a teacher at the United Nations International School in Hanoi. I came across your class blog because of a message I got from Ms. Cofino.

I’ve enjoyed reading your inspirational sayings and I thought I would share one of my own favorites with you. It was originally written by a Chinese philosophers thousands of years ago:

A journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.

What this means to me is, no matter how big or scary something might seem, you must always begin by doing something small first.

This is true of anything in life: a really hard math problem (I’m a math teacher!), a story you have to write, or even getting ready to move to middle school next year. All of those little steps will someday add up to a big journey!

Hi everyone! my inspirational saying is “Believe in your self and
don’t give up!” To me it means that if you try you can do stuff that you believe that you can do no matter how hard it is. For example one time my teacher gave me homework. I told my mom that it’s too hard for me and she told me to try again until i get it right and don’t give up!
Ayu’s inspirational saying might help me because it might help me with my grades.“Failing is a way of succeeding.” For example, if i get bad grades and fail I could try again and succeed!

This is my inspirational saying.
「短気は損気」“Tankiwasonki”
This is inspirational means “If you don’t concentrate on one thing, you will never success. ”
I think this inspirational saying would help me because this inspirational saying teaches me to try hard on one thing and concentrate on it until it succeed.

Which means that the word that doesn’t have feet
goes 1000km.
Well, so it actually means that the word you said
can go anywhere.

“Remember the mirror only tells half of the story
in chinese is :記住喔鏡子只能說一半的故事
that means to judge a person by it’s outside and inside,in middle school that will help me to choose a nice friend judging by the inside and not just outside.

If I make this to Japanese it is.

I think that this means if we do something not interesting and wasted the time that time will not come back again. So don’t waste time and have fun all the time.
By this inspirational saying I now do what I want to do all the time when it is free. If we think this is the end you can concentrate or have fun on everything.

อย่าหวังนำบ่อหน้า (ya wong nam bo na)This word means in Thai that to drink, or else tomorrow you might not have things to drink.

น้ำขึ้นให้รีบตัก(nam kin hai reep tuk)
This word meaning is quite the same as the last one.

My inspirational saying is ‘Tell yourself, “I may not be perfect, but I’m okay just the way I am.”’ And in Japanese, 自分はパーフェクトじゃないかもしれないけど、自分は自分のままで良いと自分に言い聞かせろ。 It might not be exactly the same, but I think it is okay. And please forgive me about it Ms. M. I think this inspirational saying means that you can try your best for something, but if it wasn’t perfect, it is okay just the way you did/are. When I got a lot of homework, I always think that I have to be perfect, but when I read this saying, it made me change my mind.
For Ayu’s inspirational saying, sometimes my mom and dad say to me, too. I think that saying is great.

My inspiration is “엎어진 물 다시 주워 담을 수 없다.” (You can’t put water back in to cup, if you spilled, already. It means, if you made a mistake, don’t think about it, just do something else best you can. Also it means, first mistake is a good experiment for your life but second same mistake from first mistake is a sin. So it makes me think, if I go to middle school, I should remind my inspiration in my heart and I should not make same mistake like in elementary school and also when I go to middle school, I should not hang on something that I made mistake, just do something else, best I can. And if I really keep this in my mind, later on, I shouldn’t make any mistake. Because if I made many mistakes, already. There are no new mistakes.
